how we work

Managing stakeholders in any forum takes practice and skill. Our facilitators have significant experience in stakeholder engagement, know how to read a room and adapt a workshop to deliver your outcomes. We know that stakeholders come together with competing agendas and often deeply personal and entrenched positions.

Our engagement workshops are inclusive and constructive, drawing on high-level facilitation, communication and emotional intelligence skills. We take time to make sure that our approach to engagement meets the needs of participants: helping individuals to express their position and feel heard. We work with groups to identify core issues and then constructively build toward a shared understanding

case studies

We have extensive experience in large and small group facilitation for stakeholder consultations, round tables, conferences, consultative forums and workshops.  Below are some relevant examples of our experience:

Community Consultative Workshops: Digital Literacy for Older Australians
Department of Social Services

We facilitated a series of workshops which brought together community and peak body stakeholders in order to gather input into the design and implementation of a new federal government program which aims improve the digital skills, confidence and online safety of older Australians.

Peak Body Round Table: Volunteering Roundtable
Volunteering Australian and the Department of Social Services

We facilitated a workshop that engaged peek volunteering organisations, regulatory and insurance agencies, experts and researchers.  The roundtable engaged participants to commit to harmonisation for volunteering in the pending change agenda.

Expert Reference Group: Giving Australia 2016
Prime Minister's Community Business Partnership

We designed and facilitated a workshop to give peak bodies a platform to preview pre-released research findings and themes, and to discuss these findings in further detail. The workshop also provided an opportunity to engage with researchers on how this valuable research can improve sector outcomes and benefit those in the giving network when released.

Industry and Advocate Consultation: Ban on Cosmetic Testing on Animals
Department of Health

We planned and facilitated stakeholder forums and consultations on the federal government election commitment to ban cosmetic testing on animals. The forums enabled government to gain an understanding of the impact of this commitment on industry and animal advocate groups.

Stakeholder Workshop: Female Veterans and Families Forum
Department of Veterans Affairs

We planned and co-facilitated this stakeholder forum of representatives from female veterans and veteran families organisations. The forum was a government election commitment to provide a platform for female veterans and veteran families to raise issues directly with the Government and Department of Veterans’ Affairs. The Minister of Veterans’ Affairs and Minister's advisors were also present during the forum.

Service Provider Forum: Aged Care Services Case Management Forum
Department of Health

We planned and facilitated a stakeholder consultation forum of aged care service providers from across Australia. The forum enabled the government to better understand of the different issues relating to the provision of long-term case management for clients with complex care needs.

Stakeholder Conferences: AMEP & SEE Service Provider Conferences
Department of Education and Training

We planned and facilitated the 2013, 2015 and 2016 Adult Migrant English Programme (AMEP) & Skills for Education and Employment Programme (SEE) conferences. Over 150 education service providers from across Australia attended these conferences aimed at providing an opportunity for representatives to discuss the program, including challenges and opportunities, to share experiences, and network with other providers and departmental staff. The relevant Government Ministers presented at these conferences.

Industry Conference: HR Leader's Forum

We have facilitated and undertaken the role of master of ceremonies for this premier human resources industry annual forum for the past four years. The forum attracts around 200 participants and is run across two days with multiple keynote speakers, panels and participant discussions.

Staff Conference: Care Australia

We designed and facilitated a multi-day international conference for Care Australia's staff, many of whom use English as a second language. The workshop gave the Care executive team the opportunity to consult with local and international staff on critical issues of performance, aid effectiveness and a shifting of donor priorities.

Staff Forum: Pre-Posting Seminar
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

We facilitated this full-day seminar targeting staff (and families) who were about to embark on their first overseas posting to an Australian Embassy or Mission overseas. This was an information-heavy seminar involving around 70 staff.
