giving what we can

Workforce Strategies has pledged to give 10% of gross income to help combat poverty.

Extreme poverty is one of the most pressing issues of our age. It is the source of much of the world's suffering and makes mere survival into a struggle.  Of the 6.7 billion people in the world today:

  • 2.5 billion people live on less than $2 per day
  • 1.4 billion of these live on less than $1.25 per day
  • More than 1 billion people lack access to clean drinking water
  • More than 800 million people go to bed hungry each day
  • More than 6 million children die each year from preventable diseases
  • More than 100 million children are not getting even a basic education
  • More than 800 million adults cannot read or write

Workforce Strategies supports the work of the organisation Giving What We Can.

Giving What We Can is an international society dedicated to eliminating poverty in the developing world. Giving What We Can members come from many different walks of life, but are united in the belief that global poverty is one of the most important problems in the world today, and in the desire to do something about it.

We believe that our comparative wealth can prevent a significant amount of suffering if only we allow it to do so, and thus we have each taken the Pledge to Give: we will give at least 10% of our income to wherever we think it will do the most to relieve suffering in the developing world.
